The Old House of Keys

Another Castletown landmark, this is where the Island's Government - Tynwald - sat until 1864.

Now run as an attraction by Manx National Heritage, it features a rather strange but quite marvellous tableau in the former debating hall (in which visitors are often encouraged to partake) involving a somewhat unnerving virtual Speaker of the House together with animated portraits of past luminaries. It's pretty small but, taken as part of a day out in Castletown, is definitely worth checking out.

If you find yourself becoming a little parched, Castletown is home to many fine hostelries and eateries who will be only too happy to help you solve that particular problem...

Access

There is plenty of nearby parking, and public toilets in the town, but the Old House of Keys isn't suited for wheelchair access.
